The earliest arbor was the tree, which is probably why it&#8217;s named that way; &#8220;arbor&#8221; is the Latin word for &#8220;tree.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They&#8217;re often mistaken for pergolas; they look almost identical with lattices and trellises.
