The Shademaker Monaco Umbrella Base combines a distinctive ridged surface with a built-in handle and two wheels for repositioning. Its textured design sets it apart from the smoother profiles of Athens and Aurora. Choose a square or round shape to suit your seating layout and preferred appearance. Both versions weigh 100 pounds and have a cast aluminum shell with a cast iron core, available in Bronze, White or Black.
The included stem uses tightening knobs to secure the umbrella pole. The square base measures 19.68 inches across, while the round version has a 22-inch diameter. Both have a 3.15-inch-high base body, giving Monaco a lower profile than Athens or Aurora.
Monaco is compatible with Shademaker Aquarius and Libra centerpost umbrellas. Its standard weight meets the requirements for Aquarius and the 6'6 and 8' Libra models. For either 9' Libra configuration, add the optional 30-pound cast iron weight to bring the total to 130 pounds. When to Choose Monaco
Choose Monaco when outdoor seating arrangements change frequently and a dedicated handle would help staff reposition the base. Paired with the wheels, it provides a convenient grip for moving shade between cafe tables or poolside loungers. The square version has a smaller footprint than Athens, while the round model offers the same weight in a different shape. Consider clearance around table legs and seating rather than matching the base to the canopy alone.
Athens offers a square design with a self-adjusting stem clamp and finishes in Shadow Graphite or Arctic White.
Aurora provides a round design with model-specific weights, finishes and pole receivers, including a 150-pound version for Omega and Pisces Pagoda.
The handle provides a grip for tilting the base onto its two wheels and guiding it to a new position. Both shapes remain substantial 100-pound components, so plan delivery and access to the installation site. The optional 30-pound weight fits either version, but additional ballast does not replace safe umbrella operation in windy conditions.
