NOTE - Compatible with the Aquarius and Libra market umbrellas. All bases must be purchased with an umbrella.
The Shademaker Athens Umbrella Base provides freestanding support for Aquarius and Libra centerpost umbrellas in a compact square design. The 108-pound cast aluminum base has a powder-coated finish in Shadow Graphite or Arctic White to coordinate with the umbrella frame and surrounding furniture.
Athens measures 20.47 inches square, with a 4.13-inch-high base body. The included stem bolts to the base and has a self-adjusting clamp to secure the umbrella pole. Overall height with the standard stem is 20.55 inches.
The base meets the weight requirements for all Aquarius sizes and the 6'6 and 8' Libra models. For either 9' Libra configuration, select the optional 30-pound cast iron weight when ordering to bring the total to 138 pounds. Check the recommendation on the individual umbrella page before choosing your configuration.
When to Choose Athens
Choose Athens when you want a compact square base with an included stem and wheels for an Aquarius or Libra umbrella. Its footprint is smaller than either Z-Plate size, making it worth considering where table spacing and seating arrangements leave limited room for a base. It is still a substantial 108-pound component, so plan delivery and access to the installation site rather than relying on the wheels to negotiate stairs or other obstacles.
Aurora offers alternatives in different weights and finishes. Compare the version recommended for your umbrella rather than choosing by appearance alone.
Z-Plate has a lower profile but a wider footprint, and Aquarius and Libra require a separately sold external stem.
Two built-in wheels help staff reposition the base when rearranging outdoor seating. Following Shademaker's instructions, carefully tilt the umbrella and base onto the wheels to roll them to the new location. Check and retighten the stem clamp after moving, as it can loosen over time.
An optional 30-inch stem is available for installations that call for a taller pole receiver. Check its fit with your table and umbrella configuration before ordering. The extended stem is sold separately, while the 30-pound add-on weight can be selected as an option on this page.
