Libra Centerpost Umbrella from Shademaker

This uncomplicated patio umbrella has a simplistic nautical-inspired design and ubiquitous appeal. Its slender mast and ribs are made from lightweight but strong aluminum that has a corrosion-resistant finish in four stylish neutral hues. Its canopy fasteners are commercial-grade for extra durability. The minimalist hub assembly is also made from aluminum. Libra's manual lift mechanism utilizes a counterweight to make opening and closing the outdoor umbrella easy.

Its low-profile canopy comes in two shapes and three sizes with a single vent on top. Both square and octagon shades are covered in solution-dyed acrylic or polyester fabric in a wide variety of vibrant colors and classic neutral tones. These modern synthetic textiles from Sunbrella®, O'Bravia® and Outdura® are fade-resistant and will protect you from harsh ultraviolet rays. This is extremely important if you plan to spend hours outside in the sun or simply wish to escape the glare and heat for a relaxing few minutes. They're available in both Furniture and Awning Grade weights.

Libra can be stabilized by means of a mobile base or fixed mounting apparatus. There are a number of portable patio umbrella bases (Shademaker recommends this option) from which to choose, or you can stack simple plates. The minimum required base weight for this deck umbrella is 100 pounds, but additional plates can be added to provide extra stability for windy or high traffic environments. Alternatively, the umbrella can be secured via a fixed mount kit to either concrete or the ground. This method creates a small footprint and may be a good option if you don't intend to move the shade.

Libra is a great patio umbrella for small areas or for more intimate shade. Place one between a couple of sunloungers and another in the center of a bistro table and you've got a well-protected poolside and deck. It's also perfect for casual outdoor dining settings at cafes, restaurants or other commercial environments.
