Libra Centerpost Umbrella from Shademaker

The Shademaker Libra Centerpost Umbrella provides shade for cafe tables, residential patios and pairs of sunloungers at hotel and resort pools. Positioned between loungers, it creates a shaded retreat for individual guests rather than a larger communal seating area. Its slender aluminum frame suits these smaller settings. Aluminum hub and fittings support the canopy, with commercial-grade fasteners securing the fabric to the frame.

Choose from five configurations with 43–77 square feet of coverage. The 6'6 square suits intimate seating areas, while the 8' and 9' canopies offer square and octagonal options for dining tables and lounge groups. For designers coordinating finishes across a project, the 8' models provide the widest selection.

A push-up mechanism automatically locks the canopy open, while an internal counterweight assists closing. This crank-free operation suits hospitality settings where several umbrellas are opened and closed each day. Choose Libra when canopy shape, finish coordination and assisted closing are priorities. For oceanfront and poolside projects, consider Aquarius, whose flexible fiberglass ribs can bend with wind gusts.

The 8' and 9' configurations feature telescoping masts, but furniture clearance varies by model. The 8' square will not clear a tabletop when closed. Check the closed rib-end height against the proposed tables and chairs before specifying a configuration. Allow overhead clearance where the mast extends during closing.

Coordinate the canopy with upholstery, exterior finishes and project palettes. Awning-grade options include solution-dyed acrylic from Sunbrella® and Treasure Garden Performance. Furniture-grade solution-dyed acrylic is available from Sunbrella®, Outdura® and Tempotest® in a broad selection of colors and patterns. A protective cover is included for use when the umbrella is closed.

Select the support system to suit the layout and canopy size. Athens and 100-pound Aurora bases are the recommended freestanding options, with additional weight required for the 9' models. Concrete and in-ground mount kits provide fixed support, while Z-Plate bases offer a steel plate alternative. An external stem is required for Z-Plate bases and mount kits and is sold separately.

Libra has a Wind Rating of 6, corresponding to 24–30 mph, when properly installed with a Shademaker mount kit and the canopy open and horizontal. This rating is a guideline, not a guarantee, and does not apply to freestanding bases. Close and secure the canopy when winds increase or whenever the umbrella is unattended. Wind damage is not covered under warranty.
