The Shademaker Z-Plate Umbrella Base provides freestanding support in a low-profile square design with rounded corners. Choose a 115-pound plate measuring 26 inches across or a 225-pound plate measuring 36 inches. Each steel plate is 0.63 inches thick and has a powder-coated finish in Shadow Graphite, Architectural Bronze, Arctic White or Sand.
Use a single plate or stack multiple plates according to your umbrella's model, size and canopy shape. Aquarius, Libra, Omega and Pisces Pagoda require an external stem, sold separately. Larger Shademaker centerpost and cantilever umbrellas require a 225-pound bottom plate, with additional plates stacked above it as specified. Follow the plate combination listed on the individual umbrella page rather than selecting by weight alone.
When to Choose Z-Plate
Z-Plate is a practical choice when you prefer a low-profile steel base and expect it to stay in one location. It generally costs less than Infinity, but compare the complete stack required for your umbrella. Each plate weighs 115 or 225 pounds, so plan how it will reach its final position, especially if access involves stairs or tight passages. Account for the plate's square footprint when planning table spacing and seating arrangements.
Infinity also has a low profile, with included steel weights concealed beneath an aluminum lid. Its smaller individual components are more manageable to carry, but the base typically costs more.
Titan can be an economical alternative to heavier Z-Plate stacks. Its separately purchased pavers can be carried individually, but the housing is taller. Include the paver cost when comparing options.
Optional sets of four locking wheels make the base easier to reposition when rearranging outdoor seating. Wheel sets are sold separately and sized to match the 115-pound or 225-pound base.
